Made me cry

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full
I wanted to get a second opinion on my kitten who was very ill but no one knew what was wrong. The first vet told me to prepare to euthanize. After my kitten started improving, the first vet acted like oh well, that's to be expected, he's still going to die. So I went to Blue Pearl on the recommendation of my sister. They were the most callous, unfeeling jerks I have ever seen. They said that the reason I didn't like the first vet's diagnosis was because I wasn't willing to accept the fact that my cat needed to be euthanized. My cat is completely recovered now and is healthy as can be. I'm glad I didn't listen to them and waited 24 hours to see how he would get on after given antibiotics.

My Yorkie was mulled by a pit on the week-end We took her to Blue Preal vet I was really upset crying and be side my self . they took her in back. then the lady at the desk wanted to be pays NOW I did not know if I were coming or going. they charged me $426.00 to see her for 20 minutes. They did take me to a room ,out of the waiting room because I was crying so hard. A vet came in and asked me if I wanted my dog to have pain meds ? I said of course I do. she then came back and said my dog was in very bad shape and will take several operation over a long period time and she did not know if the dog would make it to surgery. I .said put her down she, has suffered enough. I said ,I want her cremated. I walk out and the lady at the desk ,said that will be $236.00. in 20 mintues they had charaged me a total of $662.00 she ask if I wanted my dog to come there, I said no I want her to come home. She never said a word or explained how this worked. so I checked the box saying I did not want her to go the vets.. I feel I was not inform or I would never had agreed to such a terrible thing. OVER CHARGED AND POORLY INFOR. I hope who is in charged of these vets read these comment. Please be careful, I no not want anyone else suffer the heartache I have. viola vansessen

Only $6000 to kill your dog!!!

We took our 6 year old female pointer to Blue Pearl from a referral from our vet. We were told she had a spontaneous pneumothorax as she had never been injured.

According to them the only possible way to help her was to cut her open and remove the damaged lung lobe. We agreed to have them do the surgery and the doctor tells me the next day that there was no damage to any of the lung lobes and he was not sure of what caused her breathing issues. 2 days later she is dying from complications from surgery and or anesthesia. After enough pain and punishment we decided to let her go in peace.

A month after the loss of our dog I received a letter stating we owed them more money.

I discussed this with their project manager and she said she would go back and speak with the doctor and call me back.

7 months later I receive a real nasty letter stating we still owe them money and have not responded to any (of which there was none) their requests for payment. A month after that I got a really nasty letter from them.

Do you pet a favor stay as far away from these people as you can!!!

Suckered

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full
We had the same issue about the eyes! Spent 3 thousands dollars to be strung along for 9 months. The vet wanted my pug calmer before getting the surgery done. Put him on trazedoneand would up the dosage each time we went and say yes he’s doing better. He’s getting calmer. They scammed us for sure. We were willing to pay and do anything to save our pug’s vision. Then we finally got the the date of the surgery. After 9 months of having cataracts they did an ultrasound right before the surgery and told us there was no reaction to light-he’s blind. I truly believe she knew this would happen. She knew time was of the essence and she made us wait. She was concerned he would scratch his stitches out, that’s why she wanted him calmer. His would of that happened if he wore a cone? She just never had any intention of doing this surgery. The vet just saw us as money. The doctor couldn’t even come out and tell us she couldn’t do the surgery that day. But hey, she got another 875. For the ultrasound. They wanted us to come back to get check ups. If we didn’t come back they refused to get them filled. We ended up getting help from out local vet. I would never recommmend Blue Pearl to anyone! They are shameful!

Poor and overpriced services

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full
I watched multiple people put their pets down because they couldn't afford the outrageous rates they charged for general services. The vets there are only concerned about taking test that many of them didn't require or need. There has to be accountability for those providing these services and prices should not exceed reasonable expectations. I've contact Bill Nelson's and Pam Bondi's office to file a complain and to seek regulation for the ultra billion dollar rip these people are perpetrating on our community. I would never advise anyone to use these services. they've also bought out most vets in the area so there is now little competition in the Tampa Bay market. Save your pet by seeing a real professional and do not go to these rip off artists.

SHOCKER!! VET CARE COSTS MONEY!!

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full
Hello, I would like to express my deepest concern for this website and the idea that veterinarians are overcharging. Please understand that a veterinary education costs on average between $200,000 and $300,000. Most veterinarians earn a Bachelor's and/or Master's degree and then attend veterinary medical school for 4 more years to earn a doctorate degree. Specialists spend 3 to 4 more additional years after graduation, usually being paid very low wages while interning. You can price shop as much as you want but in vet med you get what you pay for! Someone who says they can do an orthopedic procedure that usually costs $5-6k at a specialist for 1/4 of the cost, is probably doing a substandard job. Please understand that veterinarians charge just the same as human physicians, but without insurance to absorb the costs, clients are left with large bills. It's just the way it is, like it or not.

Yep! You’re a Vet!I don’t mind paying any amount of money for results but my experience with Vets is they are money grubbing google searchers that can’t rid an animal of fleas.

At any business providing services you pay for what you get. If you’re told “these tests will determine the problem” and they do not then the ignorant Vet shouldn’t get paid.

People shouldn’t pay for these ignorant Vets to experiment or suggest tests just to gain more money from a grieving family of a injured or sick beloved pet. You’re argument is void!

Sounds like the Vet wrote this. It’s true it all comes down to the money!

Please DO NOT bring your pet to Bluepearl!

There are so many things that were so wrong! I worked for a rescue for 15 years so I have been around veterinarians and animals a lot!

The main problem is you are taken advantage of because your pet is in need! We brought our dog in late because our dog was seen by our vet earlier in the day and they were closed. We only wanted her to be seen not kept overnight. They said if we needed to leave her overnight so she could get a MRI in the morning.

We were told that if we did not do this she could not get a MRI until 8 days latter. It is 5pm the following day and several thousands dollars latter and we still can not take OUR dog home!

Worst animal hospital ever!

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full

I'm never one to complain however I cannot get over the poor customer service and treatment to my dog. I came in Friday because my dog had a wound on his chest due to a tree branch he got while chasing a squirrel.

I called before I came and the lady I spoke to was friendly and was like "yes bring him right on in we will get him stitched up for you" I bought him in, filled out the paper work and waited for over an hour in the lobby. I started seeing other people with their pets who came AFTER me come and go so I decided to ask the receptionist why haven't my dog been taken yet when we been here first. She replied "oh it's cause he's non critical he will be seen soon." So I sat back down thinking how is he non critical when he's bleeding and has a open wound which was now spreading and being exposed to more germs the longer we waited. So 30 minutes pass before I decide to go talk to her again so she sent a lady who I believe was a manager to see my dog and she's like "yeah sorry we had a lot of critical tonight and he's stable compared to the rest." She seen my frustration and was like we are gonna get him in room.

So 10 mins pass and a vet come in to take us in a room just to shut me up and ask more questions and leave us in the room for another 30 mins. So I go to the front desk to see what's taking so long and the rude receptionist was like "we doing the best we could all the veterinarians are doing a surgery right now" and had the audacity to say "if you don't want to wait you can bring him back in the morning or go to another 24 hour animal hospital and proceeded to pull up the closest ones which where all 35+ minutes away. I was highly upset and couldn't believe she said that. I have already be waiting with my dog for hours I wasn't going to leave and drive that far away just to wait at another hospital so I told her we will wait.

Another 30 minutes go by and finally the vet came in. She came in with her clipboard, sat down and said "oh so I see he was in a dog fight" I said I what no he was not in a dog fight and she said "oh ok we just assume dogs who come in with wounds were in a dog fight. What an uneducated assumption to make. Just because of his breed she discriminated against him and assumed he was in a fight when he only had on wound on his chest.

He's well taken care of, up to date on his shots, look healthy so I don't get why a "certified veterinarian" would say something like that. She made it seem like I bought him in there with multiple wounds and a chewed off ear or something. I was highly upset at this point. So she left and another lady came in to explain that they were going to give him staples and had me sign papers for his surgery, gave me a $400 bill and took him.

45 minutes later she came back and told me the surgery went well and I will get my dog once I go pay and btw the gave him stitches instead. I really didn't care which one he got I wanted which ever was best however before surgery she told me staples and he came out with stitches. They gave me his medicine and told me bye. This location all around was just a horrible.

They are very unprofessional, rude, non compassionate. Their customer service is the worst. They need to do some rehiring asap!

I will never take my dog here again ever and I have told everyone I know with pets about this locations so they will never take their animal here as well. I am a paying customer who left with a big bill and neither I or my dog deserved the treatment we received!

I agree with the previous post. They neglected to give my dog the medication that was ordered and she died.

Their insurance company Zurich America is really bad. They denied my claim even though I had audiotaped evidence.

The are acting in bad faith. Blue Pearl is an extremely unethical organizations and the people they hire are scraping the bottom of the barrel.

Misdiagnosis beware

The worst Emergency Veterinary experience of my and my dog's life!!!!!!!! They prescribed 4 different medications for a condition he did not have, TERRIBLE MISDIAGNOSIS!!!!!!

They performed a *** cleansing of a skin lesion (which THEY said was a tumor and needed to surgically be removed - OMG SO NOT THE CASE) which got terribly infected and now my handsome guy is scarred for life!!!!! They never followed up to check on the status of my dogs condition or to provide results of pending test. Please heed my warning if you love your animal and want the best for them, take them to any other animal emergency hospital, but not Blue Pearl!!!!!

BLUE PEARL IS THE DEVIL'S DEN and your animal will not come out the way you brought them in!!!!!!! It's sad that our animals can not tell us what truly goes on behind closed doors once they leave their owners Loving Hands.

Nightmare! Do not take your pet here!

We have been living a nightmare ever since our visit in late November. Our dog is now permanently blind in one eye, and continuing to battle to save vision in his other following a visit to BluePearl.

This initial visit is the cause of his glaucoma since his uveitis was not treated correctly. Later that week he returned with secondary glaucoma and the medication was not given correctly and this inadequate treatment of his diagnosis has left him in a life long battle of glaucoma and we hope to avoid having have his eyes removed. The medical directors response was offensive and uncaring knowing that her inadequate Veterinarians are at fault! Disgusting!

Do not go here!!!! I am a medical professional, I can understand and forgive some mistakes, but our second visit with Dr Allison Dylewski was frightening. She had the information prior to our arrival since our vet called, she asked the same questions over and over again and delayed treatment when time was of the essence. She also was unable to answer simple questions about glaucoma, I should have left but had no where to go on a Friday night.

It was an infuriating evening that has left my sweet fur-baby blind and in need of constant eye drops just to save the health if his right eye and avoid having it removed, and struggling to keep the vision in his left.

This facility is horrible! Dr Dylewski is incompetent!

Bluepearl Veterinary Partners - Exploited hearing impaired pet owner - $2,600!!

Brought cat in during the night as it was in distress. Left the cat with them and ultimately had to put the cat down - despite the fact that they "couldn't be certain" the cat had cancer without even more tests!!!

They take advantage of people when they are terrified for their pets - without any consideration for what make sense and/or whether the "care" or "services" they intend to provide can be paid for. They charge outrageous fees and make no apologies for gouging people at their weakest. The pet owner is hearing impaired and was distraught when he brought his cat in - and overdrew his checking account when they charged his debit card for "services" rendered.

I don't know how these people sleep at night knowing they are overcharging people and upcharging 500% for taking care of people's pets. $2,600+ for less than a day of treatment - no blood transfusions, just saline, and ICU "treatment" -- really?

Exploitation of a hearing impaired pet owner!

My deaf brother brought his ill cat into this place - a horrible place - who took his cat in overnight to run some tests. His cat was not acting normally, not eating, lethargic, etc. The ran some tests and contact me (since I am his power of attorney and his ears) and the asked to run even more tests. I asked them why and they said the cat had either leukemia or some other kind of cancer. Both would result in euthanasia. I told them no. All they did was take some blood to run these tests. No transfusions. No other treatment. The cat was there for only a few hours and they charged my brother's DEBIT card for over $2,500 --- which made his account go into the negative! I tried talking to them but the woman (corporate legal rep) literally said "I'm hanging up now" when I because outraged at her inability to explain their crazy fees! They have no ethics whatsoever and need to be shut down.

Terrible Customer Service

After spending over $6000 with them we attempted to get some eye medications refilled. Our dog is almost 14 years old and is a diabetic.

We can't financially get the eye operations so we are controlling his pressures and comfort levels with these drugs. Now they won't refill unless we go for more extensive testing. They basically said they told us to come back in a week after his hospital stay. But that is a lie as I have the paperwork and it states to take to our primary vet which is what I told her and is what we did.

She basically implied I'm lying. I even called them back when our regular primary didn't have pressure check machine and they said they couldn't do it as they are an emergency vet. So I had to continue to find a vet to help us which we did.

They basically just want more $$ now. I didn't care for how I was treated and I would never recommend them to anyone.

Disgusting service

They are clueless. Brought my pet in when he was critically sick and they were so cheerful and happy.

I was in tears and they were acting like I came in for a nail trimming. Met with 2-3 doctors/nurses and they could not care less about your pets. Also put a large deposit down that was supposed to be reimbursed back the next day. Its been over a month and NO ONE has responded.

I called 3 times and still ZERO response. They also was in the media for killing a dog under their care very recently. DO NOT GO THERE! I only went there because it was an extreme emergency.

Please go to the Animal Medical Center on 510 East 62nd.

They are super professional and are extremely knowledgable. One of the best vet hospitals in the US.

If you love your pet, don’t take them here

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full
I wish I could give this place ZERO stars. I was lied to about expenses. I was “doom and gloom” scared into signing a form. I was told it was necessary for them to be able to take care of my pup if he started to go downhill fast, but only if that happened, and that it would cap at $500. That never happened, he never went down after initial treatment. He was perking up and had better well being within 30 minutes of being there (the tech even told me so). I had been texting a vet friend through the process. Once the tech confirmed what it was, my vet friend (who is not in close proximity to me, or I would have seen them), told me necessary steps of what to do going forward. The tech came in with an $1800 bill saying they wanted to do X-rays and keep him overnight. I refused service. Thanked them for checking him... here’s the worst part, they LITERALLY held me and my dog hostage for the next two hours. I refused the additional services countless times. Dr Perez was rude and demeaning. She kept telling me she didn’t think my dog would survive if I left and she wouldn’t let me leave unless she talked to the vet I was texting. I kept trying to leave, they wouldn’t get my dog. They kept making me wait for the dr to come back in, who had terrible manor every single time. They charged me a few dollars shy of $500. I pointed at several things on the bill I refused to pay for because it was all things done after I had refused additional services. She receptionist cocked her head and told me I had no choice because I had signed a paper that said they could charge me up to $500! The tech had explicitly explained that form as only if he went downhill and only if the initial treatment wasn’t helping (which again, she had already told me was working). I realize it’s 24/7 and they are more expensive, but I had gone to a regular vet that was going to close in 45 minutes, and they didn’t want to take the time to check, they just referred me to Blue Pearl. I wish I would have checked their google reviews before going. WORST EXPERIENCE OF MY PET LIFE! I’ve taken pets to emergency clinics before where I used to live, I know they are more expensive. But this was a joke. They charged me $500 for caro syrup! I just hope this review will save other people from going here. These guys don’t care about your pet, they care about padding their wallet. If you’re gonna spend this much, go to a hospital that cares about you and your pet. And if you’re forced to go here, request anyone other than Dr Perez. She’s demeaning, no sympathy, and pushy.
